Training
Born in country Victoria, Meredith studied medicine at The University of Melbourne. After graduating in 1989, Meredith worked for two years at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne before commencing training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Mercy Hospital for Women. She also trained at Monash Medical Centre and in the United Kingdom. On her return to Australia in 1999, Meredith accepted a position as a consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at The Mercy Hospital for Women and commenced her private practice. She has also undertaken sessional work at The Royal Women’s Hospital with a focus on Young Mothers.
Experience
As the Head of an Obstetrics Unit at The Mercy Hospital for Women, Meredith helps to train and supervise junior Obstetricians and Gynaecologists as well as medical students. The Mercy Hospital for Women is a tertiary obstetric centre which provides care for high risk and emergency situations in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Neonatology. Her experience working at The Mercy Hospital for Women has given Meredith both knowledge and experience in managing complicated pregnancies and gynaecological disorders.
Ongoing Development
Meredith maintains her professional knowledge by regular attendance at relevant seminars and conferences. She demonstrates her commitment to ongoing development of quality services in obstetrics and gynaecology by serving on committees at both St Vincent’s Private Hospital, The Mercy Hospital for Women and The Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.
Team
Meredith’s private clinic is assisted by a small group of support staff who work together with Meredith to ensure her patient care is personal with a focus on customer service. Meredith works as part of an all-female group of obstetricians in an after-hours on-call roster, the majority of whom also share rooms in Fitzroy.
